NDIS

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) was introduced in 2013 and is how people with disability under the age of 65 receive specialised care and support for their health and wellbeing. The scheme is overseen by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) and allows individuals with a permanent and significant disability to access government funding.

The NDIS focuses on the individual and provides them with the choice to decide where and how to use their funding. Supports can be across many areas, including employment, allied health, accommodation, independence, outdoor activities and community access.
