Shane Kinderis, he’s the man who is responsible for making the Maxima BMW S 1000RR’s go extraordinary fast around the countryside in the Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK). His level of expertise of mechanical stuff is in another world and it shows by what he has done in the past.
Not only has this laid-back character spun spanners within Australia, but he has also worked with race teams in the World Superbike Championship (WorldSBK) as well as for teams which compete at the famous Bonneville Salt Flats just to name a few.
Away from grit and grind of motorcycle racing, there is much more to know about the man himself. Here is just a quick snippet of Shane Kinderis…
Nickname: Shaneo or SK
Where do you live? Whorouly. It’s a town in northeast Victoria. The town is in the valley of the Ovens River and in the Rural City of Wangaratta.
Racing achievement you are most proud of: Winning two Australian Superbike Championships with Glenn Allerton at the helm.
Hidden talent: Making motorcycles go really, really fast!
Favourite track and why? Wakefield Park. It’s a real challenge to get a bike setup perfect for the rider. I enjoy the place as well, as its such a nice circuit with great surroundings.
What can’t you live without? Beer
Favourite holiday destination? USA
Favourite food? Mexican
Pub crawl or dinner for two? Dinner for two with the lovely wife, then a pub crawl. That’s a fair answer, isn’t it?
Two stroke or four stroke? Two strokes for sure. Have to have the fine art of being able to adjust all the needles to suit the weather and so on. Just so much more to it than four strokes.
Speedway or Motocross? Speedway. Those riders are nutters.
MotoGP or WorldSBK? WorldSBK. They have more meaning to racing as in people can relate more to production racing, than prototypes being MotoGP. Don’t get me wrong, I do like MotoGP, but I rather WorldSBK. Fingers crossed the BMW Motorrad WSBK team can get up there when racing returns and win races.
Who is the most famous person you have in your phone contacts? Brad Lewis and Glenn Allerton. I also have Wayne Maxwell’s number as well. He’s famous, isn’t he?
