Maxima BMW’s Glenn Allerton finished the day’s action with a consecutive seventh place in race two of the opening round of the Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit today.
For Allerton, it was a disappointing second race for him as he struggled with grip. The first race went better for the team and himself. While pushing hard on the last lap Allerton experienced a big frontend loose going into MG Corner, which cost him a sixth place finish.
“It was just a really tough day. In saying that, we banked some good championship points,” expressed Allerton.
“We’ll sit down tonight and analyse the data and see where we can move forward tomorrow. We’ll try and finish the weekend with a better result than what we scored today,” concluded Allerton.
Heading into race three tomorrow, Allerton sits in sixth place in the championship with 28-points on the board.
Ted Collins made life hard for himself off the start and had to work his way through the field to ninth place.
The Maxima BMW S 1000RR had good pace towards the end of the race for Collins, however, he had a few moment’s which dropped him back to eleventh overall in the race.
“It was disappointing, but the main thing is we finished and scored valuable points which is the main thing,” said Collins.
“The team and I know we have the race pace in the bike to be fighting in the mid-pack and plan to move forward again tomorrow.”
